I led a gang to Beat A Newcomer-Murtala Mohammed

Member of Parliament for Tamale Central, Honourable Murtala Mohammed has confessed he couldn’t speak English Language until High school.
In an interview with Nana Aba Anamoah, he said his situation rendered him a quiet fellow in class during his primary and JHS days.
He also revealed his situation caused him to lead some folks to beat up a girl who had newly enrolled in the school.
According to him, they felt embarrassed that the girl could speak the official language while they couldn’t.
“I couldn’t speak English even at JHS. I could write but I couldn’t speak. When I was in class 4, there was a girl who relocated to Tamale with her parents and joined our school. I led a team to beat her up because she was the only one who could speak English. It was embarrassing to us that she could speak and we couldn’t.
“I couldn’t talk in the classroom because of my situation. My parents were business people, none of them communicated to us with English. The only place we were exposed to English language was in the school but to what extent?” he asked.
Nevertheless his situation changed at his enrolment in Ghana School High School in the Northern Region according to him.
